The main purpose of youth boot camps is to be able to use the strict, discipline-focus style of character building used on military recruits on youths to impart identical values, characteristics and traits similar to what the soldiers learn to embrace upon their stay in the boot camp wherein they are subjected to physical and mental hardships that help molded their character as better individuals.
The physical, mental and emotional status of the children should be assessed very carefully first both parents and children before deciding to attend a youth boot camp. Since this type of training adheres to the strict, military-style training, there is very little room for special attention and softness especially from the leaders and facilitators of the camp. Because of this it is the responsibility of the parents to know if their children are fit to undertake such training. Professionals, like psychologists and general medicine doctors, should be consulted before going ahead and enlisting your children to take youth boot camps.
But just like in the military boot camps wherein there are incidences wherein the stringent rules and the seemingly endless hardships resulted to the total breaking down of a recruit or the development of an entirely negative characteristic like hate towards rule and order and other anti-social traits, youth boot camps are also not exempt from the fact that things may get out of control and things which were not perceived actually happen, which could endanger the life and limb not just of the individual directly concern but also of those currently enrolled and training in the youth boot camp.
Because of this, parents are encouraged to make careful considerations regarding sending their kids in a youth boot camp. Parents should consider very well if this is the kind of social, interactive activity that their children really need and if this kind of training is actually capable of providing remedy or answer to whatever it is that troubles the person. The worst thing to happen is to send your children in a youth boot camp for the wrong reasons.
